Buena Health Fair at Library

The Buena Library grounds provided a festive setting for a well-attended community health fair on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

Funded by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and National Cancer Institute, numerous booths promoted health education, cancer prevention, diabetes and pesticide information resources. A variety of other community service providers added to the afternoon event.

Barbequed hamburgers and hotdogs, snacks and soft drinks, together with activities for both children and adults added to the enjoyment of this free event for everyone in the Buena community. Of course the library's youth group (supervised by Librarian Kathy Garcia) enthusiastically staffed an attractive booth promoting the new Buena Library and Community Center project and the summer reading program!

Buena Librarian Kathy Garcia promotes the summer reading program and distributes free books to children. Youthful library users "staff" the booth and advocate support for the new library and community center project.
